Frequently asked questions
Are you a medical home health agency?
✘ No. Kompass Care provides non‑medical caregiving and supportive services. We do not provide nursing or clinical care.
Do caregivers administer medications?
✘ Caregivers may provide reminders and cueing only. They do not administer injections or perform skilled tasks.
What are your office hours?
✓ Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. After-hours line: 310‑424‑5565.
What is your cancellation policy?
— We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations/no-shows may be billed for a minimum of 4 hours (or the scheduled shift length, whichever is less), except where prohibited by law or in emergencies determined in good faith.
How do you match caregivers?
— We match based on care needs, preferences, schedule, and availability, and may substitute caregivers as needed for continuity.
Do you offer transportation?
✓ Transportation is available only if authorized in the care plan/addendum. Mileage and reimbursables may apply.
Can you help connect us to hospice or home health?
✓ Yes—upon request and consent, we can help coordinate and connect you to appropriate providers. We do not guarantee third‑party services.
Do you accept insurance?
— We primarily serve private-pay clients. Some clients use long-term care insurance reimbursement. Contact us for guidance on documentation.
Are you licensed?
✓ Yes. Kompass Care is a California Licensed Home Care Organization (HCO #194701222).
Can a family hire a caregiver directly?
✘ No. To protect continuity, training, and accountability, our agreement prohibits solicitation/direct hire of caregivers introduced by Kompass Care.
What happens if needs change?
— We reassess and update the care plan. Rates/staffing may adjust based on changes in condition or safety needs.
